All About Convention!
What is LJCL Convention?
Acclaimed by most Latin club members as the best weekend of your life, the LJCL convention is where many of the local JCL chapters get together to have some Classical-related fun!
What goes down at Convention?
A weekend of hanging out with fellow Latin-loving friends, that's what goes down! Enjoy Olympika, Certamen, Dances, arts, and crafts, testing your Latin knowledge, costumes, cheering (and spirit competitions!), and eating! (Check out the CHEERS Page to learn some of SJA's fantabulous cheers for convention!!)
What is Olympika?
Olympika is an awesome athletic competition between clubs at conventions! Cool events like the club vs. club tug-o-war and chariot displays go on throughout Olympika. There's something for everyone at Olympika: sprinting races, relays, field sports like shotput and long jump, and even a three-legged race and obstacle course! This year, Olympika will not look the same as it did in previous years. It will instead involve submitting videos of doing push-ups, sit-ups, a pacer test, etc.
What in the world do we eat all weekend?
Your food is included in the convention fees! You will be supplied with most meals, including pizza one night, a sandwich lunch, and even a delicious banquet for dinner on Saturday night! Also, you and your three other roommates can bring snacks and drinks to your room to have between meals! (no hotel rooms this year, of course)
OMG, that's a lot of events. What do I wear?
For information about what to wear, check the packing list that will be emailed after signing up.
When/How long is the convention?
The convention is typically held mid-mMarch for a weekend.
