How can I join SJA JCL?
To join our club, you must be a Latin student at
St. Joseph's Academy, sign up on Teams, and
pay your dues on SchoolCashOnline.
Why do I have to pay dues?
This money will fund events and supplies throughout the year. Separate dues must be paid in order to attend Latin Convention.
What do we do at chapter meetings?
Have an awesome time! We start out with yummy snacks, talk about upcoming events, hear from our officers, and practice cheers. See you there!
What else does SJA JCL do?
We do art projects like pottery, mosaics, watercolor, etc. We also do service projects like making cards for children and making sticker sacks.
What is Fall Forum?
A Classics-Themed event held by the LJCL complete with colloquia sessions (state
officers discuss topics such as Louisiana/National Junior Classical League events and
Ancient Roman life and customs), games, a car-decorating contest, and Certamen
(Latin-themed quiz bowl).
What is LJCL Convention?
A super fun weekend where many of the local JCL chapters get together to have some Classical-related fun! There are events such as Certamen, dances, and contests for every type of talent. To find out more about the convention, visit our convention page!
Wow, State and National JCL Convention sound fun! How can I go?
To attend the awesomeness that is Latin Convention, a club member must earn club points. A total of 10 points are required to go to Latin Convention.
How do I acquire club points?
These can be acquired by attending meetings and other club events, contributing to contests, submitting to The Torch, and other things that may come up later in the year.
